This beautifully built 'one of a kind' mahogany custom 40' Roberts designed vessel will certainly impress the most astute buyer and discerning timber sailing boat enthusiast.

The hull was built by one of South Australia's most experienced shipwrights and has hand laminated triple planked diagonal 300mm mahogany using epoxy glues. The entire hull was then given 4 coats of epoxy on the inside and sheathed in Kevlar on the outside, encapsulating her timber hull. The full fixed cruising keel was moulded directly to the hull, again immersing the entire lead shot keel in epoxy. The top superstructure including cockpits and decks were completed in the workshops of Master RN Shipwright Bill Jones in Victoria bringing her to completion. Bill had been recommended to finish Ruby Star as arguably the best timber boat builder in Victoria and came with 30 years of experience, which started as an apprentice working on Royal Navy timber boats in London.

Ruby star is an amazing work of art with the internal space feeling more like an apartment than a timber yacht.
In 2019 the standing rigging was replaced with Dyneema which matched the holistic nature of Ruby star's Douglas Fir mast.
Ruby star is as comfortable crossing Bass straight as she would be cruising around the bay or harbour.
This classic well deserves an inspection.
